Alfred Le Prevost
Biography
Alfred became the Deputy Head of Mission at British Embassy Budapest in July 2026.
He was previously Deputy Head of Department in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office’s Eastern Europe & Central Asia Directorate. Alfred’s previous postings include Ankara and Sarajevo. He has also worked on Middle East policy, and as a speechwriter in London. Prior to joining the FCDO, Alfred worked in a number of international and non-governmental organisations on human rights issues, good governance and the EECA region.
Deputy Head of Mission, Hungary
The Deputy Head of Mission is a senior diplomat and typically a key advisor to the Ambassador or High Commissioner. The Deputy is responsible for the daily management of an overseas Embassy or High Commission. They will represent the UK’s interests in the absence of the Ambassador as Chargé d’Affaires. A senior ranking Deputy may also take the title Minister. Smaller missions may not have a Deputy Head.
