The Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) closed on 31 March 2014. It has been replaced by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). This is the information about VOSA that was published at the point that it closed. It is no longer current.

How VOSA is changing its energy use to bring about sustainable improvements in efficiency and performance.

To make VOSA’s offices more energy efficient, we are:

  • following the ‘Greening government’ commitments
  • meeting all current and future environmental legal requirements and codes of practice
  • using automatic meter readers to identify unnecessary energy use
  • using lower carbon vehicles when we cannot avoid travelling
  • telling all our staff and contractors about our environmental policy and performance
  • communicating digitally as much as possible to reduce waste
  • encouraging suppliers and contractors to improve their own environmental performance
  • providing training, advice and information for our staff
  • promoting the trial and use of new innovations
  • monitoring energy consumption and travel

Each year, VOSA’s 185 sites use around:

  • 13.6 million kilowatt hours of energy
  • 24,000 cubic meters of water

We travel around 11.3 million miles a year.
