Statistics at RSH

RSH collects data from registered providers of social housing to inform its operational approach to regulating its standards.


The Regulator of Social Housing collects data from registered providers of social housing to inform its operational approach to regulating its standards. These data, collected through the Statistical Data Return (SDR) and Local Authority Data Return (LADR), are published in the statistics below. 

Tenant satisfaction measures

These statistics are drawn from our Tenant Satisfaction Measures (TSM) data collection. TSMs include information from tenant surveys and those generated from management information held by landlords on areas including repairs and maintenance, complaints and engagement, respectful and helpful engagement and building safety.

We have also commissioned a separate National Tenant Survey.

Fire safety remediation in social housing in England

Drawn from our Fire Safety Remediation Survey (FRS) data collection, these statistics provide details of fire safety assessments, life critical fire safety risks and the progress of remediation programmes, for buildings of 11 metre or more in height, which contain dwellings, and for which registered providers are the responsible entity

Registered provider social housing stock and rents in England 

This statistical release provides details of social housing stock and rents owned by registered providers (both private and local authority in England. This collection draws together key areas from our other published statistics (see below) to provide an overview of social housing stock and rents in England. 

This statistical release was published for the first time in February 2021 (covering 2019-20 data). We welcome user feedback on how these statistics, their content and presentation meet user needs. 

The registered provider social housing stock and rents in England statistics are considered by the United Kingdom Statistics Authority (UKSA) regulatory arm (the Office for Statistics Regulation (OSR)) to have met the highest standards of trustworthiness, quality and public value. 

Private registered provider social housing stock and rents in England

This statistical release presents the Accredited Official Statistics on the stock owned and managed by private registered providers (PRPs) in England. Based on data sourced from the SDR, it provides details of PRP owned and managed stock, details rents reported for low cost rental (social and Affordable Rents) and provides an overview of the PRP sector including details on stock losses and gains, and vacancies. 

The private registered provider social housing stock and rents in England statistics are considered by the UKSA regulatory arm (the OSR) to have met the highest standards of trustworthiness, quality and public value, and are considered an Accredited Official Statistic. 

Local authority registered provider social housing stock and rents in England

This statistical release presents the Accredited Official Statistics on the stock owned by Local Authority Registered Providers (LARPs) in England. Based on data sourced from the LADR, it provides details of LARP owned stock and  rents reported for low cost rental accommodation (social and Affordable Rents). 

This statistical release was published for the first time in February 2021 (covering 2019-20 data). 

The local authority registered provider social housing stock and rents in England statistics are considered by the UKSA regulatory arm (the OSR) to have met the highest standards of trustworthiness, quality and public value, and are considered an Accredited Official Statistic.
