About us
The primary purpose of the King's Harbour Master (KHM) is to protect the port, the Royal Navy and its vessels and other government assets.
Our responsibilities
KHM is an independent authority, accountable to the Secretary of State for Defence for the protection of the port. Our remit includes the preservation of life, protecting the environment, property and the continuity of business whilst overseeing Ministry of Defence primacy.
KHM is responsible for 5 sites:
We’re responsible for the management of the water space for all users of these 5 sites, military, commercial or recreational. We also deal with oil pollution and help support environmental conservation.
