The work we do

Our two main areas of work cover internal audit and counter fraud and investigation. As the government’s primary provider of internal audit services, we lead the government internal audit profession and function. Some of our internal auditors work in specialist areas including project management, digital and commercial audit.

We also provide independent assurance to the European Commission in respect of several EU-funded programmes.

We help our customers improve how they deliver public services and provide value for money for the taxpayer. We look at the bigger picture, considering the wider government context, as well as looking at an organisation’s specific risks and management challenges.

Who we are looking for

In the GIAA we embrace diversity and promote equal opportunity. We welcome talented people who bring different perspectives and experiences to our organisation. As we develop our people we aim to become stronger, growing and thriving together.

We want our teams to be diverse and inclusive, supporting each other and giving their best to help us deliver better insights and better outcomes.

Our people are confident being themselves, and we want them to be proud of working in the GIAA. We value everyone’s contributions, from those directly engaged in helping our customers to those who enable and support the Agency’s work.

What we offer

As well as competitive salaries, and a tailored career path, we offer a substantial package of benefits including:

  • flexible working arrangements, subject to the Agency’s operational requirements
  • a range of office locations across the UK to complement our home and virtual working options
  • a working culture that values diversity and inclusion
  • 25 days of annual leave, rising to 30 days after 5 years’ service and, additionally, we offer 9 days’ public and privilege days leave per year, pro rata for part time colleagues
