How the Civil Nuclear Constabulary treats your personal information and how to check what details are held on file.


Your privacy

When we ask for your personal information we will:

  • collect it lawfully, fairly and in a transparent manner
  • collect it for specified, explicit and legitimate purposes only
  • only collect what is adequate and relevant and limited to what is necessary
  • ensure that it is accurate and kept up to date
  • retain it only for as long as is necessary
  • process it securely

In return, we ask you to:

  • give us accurate information
  • tell us as soon as possible if there are any changes, such as a new address

This helps us to keep your information reliable and up to date.

All the information we hold is protected under the Data Protection Act 2018.

Lawful Basis for Processing 

CNC has identified the lawful basis for processing as follows:  

  • For employees (officers and staff, current and prospective) - contractual obligation.
  • For former employees the Constabulary - legal obligation.
  • For members of the public the Constabulary - vital interests, public task, a specific task in the public interest that is set out in law.
  • Special category data (such as Occupational Health records) is processed under Article 9 (2) (h) as necessary for the purposes of preventive or occupational medicine and for the assessment of the working capacity of the employee.
  • CNC processes minimal Criminal Offence data as this is handled by the host Home Office Forces within whose area the sites policed by the Constabulary are based. Where it is processed by the Constabulary this is done on the basis of legal authority under Article 10.

Data Subject rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the following rights:

  • the right to be informed
  • the right of access
  • the right of rectification
  • the right to erasure
  • the right to restrict processing
  • the right to data portability
  • the right to object

You can find out if we hold any of your personal information by making a subject access request under the Data Protection Act 2018.

If we do hold information about you we will:

  • give you a description of it
  • tell you why we are holding it
  • tell you who can access it
  • let you have a copy of it
