According to the report:

“The overall effectiveness of Hassockfield secure training centre (STC) to meet the needs of young people is judged to be good with outstanding features.”

It also states that Hassockfield is ‘outstanding’ in relation to their work on the resettlement of young people in their care.

The report also acknowledges that most of the recommendations from the previous inspection were addressed. There are also no immediate recommendations made for improvement. But, it does identify some actions to improve services for children in healthcare and education.

Lin Hinnigan, Chief Executive of the YJB, said:

I am pleased to see that inspectors found the overall effectiveness of Hassockfield STC to be good with outstanding features, particularly in relation to resettlement - support which is vital to help young people turn away from crime. I am confident that the Hassockfield team will continue to work hard to meet the needs of the children and young people in their care.
