Lin Hinnigan, Chief Executive of the Youth Justice Board, said:

We are pleased outcomes for young people at Werrington are good overall, particularly around resettlement. However, the safety of young people in custody is the YJB’s priority. We therefore remain concerned about the levels of violence and self-harm at Werrington YOI. We will be working closely with the National Offender Management Service to ensure that action is taken to address this issue.
