The Secretary of State statement on World Population Day

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Speaking on World Population Day, International Development Secretary Andrew Mitchell said:

“It is unacceptable that in the twenty-first century, 215 million women around the world who want to use modern contraception don’t have access to it.

“One of my key priorities in my new role is to ensure that women around the world have more power to make fundamental decisions about their own lives. This includes deciding when, and how many, children to have.”
