Three internship positions are open to students who are currently studying communications, marketing, business, economics or related degrees at an undergraduate level.

The internships will last for six months.

  • Start Date: 6th January 2014.
  • Term: 6 months.
  • Training Days: Monday to Friday.
  • Remuneration: S/. 750.00 soles per month.

Trade & Investment intern

Role description:

The role of the intern would be to play an integral part in delivering our services to UK companies. One of the key areas will be in identifying and developing new and existing projects for UK companies, particularly in infrastructure so strong interpersonal skills and an ability to develop relationships will be essential. The work will also involve making arrangements for VIP visits from the UK and Peru. The internship offers an excellent opportunity to experience real life interaction with UK customers looking to do business in Peru.

Economic & Commercial Diplomacy intern

Role description:

The successful candidate will experience the full range of economic and commercial diplomacy, putting into practice work-related skills such as researching, report writing, policy development, stakeholder management, influencing and negotiating, and contact building and networking. They will gain first-hand experience of life in a busy, high-profile international mission, working on major bilateral and international initiatives. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated quick-learner with an interest in international affairs, economics and business.

There will also be opportunities to be involved in wider Embassy activities.

Specifically, the successful candidate will provide monthly economic report and analysis, and occasional in-depth analysis of thematic economic and commercial issues; develop and manage an expansion of a pipeline of future business opportunities; and will work with the Head of Economic & Sustainable development on the promotion of a rules-based international economic system with a particular focus on engagement with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

Communications intern

Role description:

The successful candidate will provide support in a wide range of communications duties such as media monitoring, photography and video coverage of events. The communications intern also writes pieces for our web site, translates from and into Spanish/English, updates databases and does research on different current events while also providing support to the setting up of the British Embassy in Lima’s events.

This internship provides an engaging environment where new communications professionals apply their academic knowledge and technical skills in real life situations.

Additional requirements for this role:

  • Video editing skills: Adobe Premiere, FinalCut Pro.
  • Photo skills, basic Photoshop.
  • Social media skills: Facebook, Twitter, Hootsuite (preferred).
