Wales Office welcomes that S4C is to be available on iPlayer

Wales Office Minister Alun Cairns welcomes news that Welsh language broadcaster's programmes are now available to view live and on demand.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

In response to the news that S4C will become available on BBC iPlayer, Wales Office minister Alun Cairns said:

It is great news that S4C content is now available through the BBC iPlayer, bringing viewing opportunities to many more people across the UK on many different platforms.

The media world is increasingly converging, and with it, the ways in which we enjoy content – on the go, on multiple devices, through catch-up services.

And Mr Cairns added:

The UK Government continues to remain supportive of S4C which undeniably makes an enormous contribution towards the creative industries in Wales and, crucially, to promoting the Welsh language.

Overall, the creative industries employ over 50,000 people and turn over more than £1 billion in Wales annually.

Appearing as a full channel on BBC iPlayer, S4C programmes will be available for 30 days to stream, with downloads coming soon.
