Vauxhall will contact you if you’re a registered owner of a Zafira B model to tell you about the second safety recall and provide appropriate advice.
Vauxhall recalled Zafira B models in December 2015 following an investigation into the cause of the fires. Vauxhall found that the fires were caused as result of improper repair to heater blower motor resistors.
Vauxhall registered the issue with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), the government agency responsible for monitoring vehicle safety recalls and defects in Great Britain.
Vauxhall has now carried out further investigation into the fires and has been told by DVSA that a second safety recall is needed, which will now be carried out.
What Vauxhall will do next
Vauxhall now plans to:
- replace the current soldered fuse resistor with a new wax fuse resistor
- put in a new blower motor
- put in new moulding at the base of the windscreen to allow water to drain away
If you own a vehicle that’s affected, you’ll be contacted by Vauxhall telling you:
- that if you haven’t done so already, you should take your vehicle to have the repair work done as part of the original recall to replace the resistor pack
- what you can do to mitigate the risk
Vauxhall will then contact you again in August to tell you:
- what you need to do next
- who you should contact
You won’t need to pay to get the problem fixed.

DVSA Chief Executive, Gareth Llewellyn, said:
The safety of the public is our top priority. We have continued to monitor closely Vauxhall’s actions to rectify faults found during the recall of the Zafira B.
We have told Vauxhall that a second safety recall is needed, which will now be carried out. We expect to see swift action to protect the public.
