On Saturday 1st March the University of London International Programmes Alumni Association hosted its first event of the year. In the beautiful gardens of the High Commissioners Residence, Westminster House over 100 alumni and university staff joined His Excellency The High Commissioner for a cocktail reception. Alumni and guests caught up with old friends and made new ones in what has become an annual event in their lives and the alumni events calendar.

The University of London has a long history with Sri Lanka and today it is one of our largest markets for students who complete their qualifications through the University of London International Programmes. The University of London allows students to stay in their home country while working towards their degree and over the past 25 years more than 1,500 Sri Lankan students have completed their degree in this way.

As well as being a great social outing, these events give our alumni and students a chance to network and mingle with people who share similar academic or professional interests and whom they instantly have something in common with – a degree from the University of London. The events also create a sense of belonging to a global community. “
