The UK welcomes the Czech National Strategy for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings for 2016–2019, as well as the ratification of the Protocol to the Forced Labour Convention. We encourage the full implementation of both.

We are encouraged by the adoption of the Roma Integration Strategy. The anticipated legal aid system and scheme to promote tolerance and respect for diversity are a positive step. However, more is required to ensure inclusive education of Roma children.

We recommend:

To continue the positive trend of Roma integration by ensuring teachers are adequately trained in anti-discrimination measures, particularly in special needs education.

To sign the UK Prime Minister’s Call to Action and unite in our commitment to end forced labour, modern slavery, human trafficking, and the worst forms of child labour in our world by 2030.

To adopt an open, merit-based selection process when selecting national candidates for UN Treaty Body elections.
