UK welcomes Nidji to London
British Embassy Jakarta will bid farewell to the famous Indonesian band Nidji, ahead of their trip to the UK.
On Friday 5 September 2014, Acting British Ambassador Rebecca Razavi will bid farewell to the famous Indonesian band Nidji, ahead of their trip to the UK on the inaugural Garuda Indonesia flight to London.
While in the UK, Nidji will visit London’s most famous palaces, parks and landmarks, explore British culture and cuisine, as well as showcase Indonesia’s amazing musical talent.

I am very pleased to welcome Nidji to the UK to explore our vibrant capital city, and experience our culture, history, diversity as well as the hospitality of the British people.
I am also delighted with the new Garuda flight to London. Britain and Indonesia share many values as democratic island nations with diverse communities reflecting many different backgrounds and religions. We look forward to welcoming more Indonesians to experience these similarities for themselves. We hope you enjoy our beautiful countryside, our world class football and music festivals, and study at our prestigious universities.

Meanwhile on September 8, 2014 Garuda Indonesia will operate London routes through Amsterdam hub. Garuda Indonesia will serve its services to the capital city of England, connected to the Jakarta – Amsterdam nonstop flight. The opening of the service will boost business activities between Indonesia and the United Kingdom, while offering seamless connectivity to and from even more destination in Garuda’s global and regional network.

Indonesia is an important country to the UK. In the year ending June 2014 the UK issued:
- 38,202 visas to Indonesian nationals – an increase of 6%
- 32,839 visit visas – an increase of 6%
- 1,921 work visas – an increase of 5%
- 1,948 long term student visas – an increase of 31%
Most Indonesians chose London as the main destination in the UK. Going the other way over 200,000 British people visited Indonesia last year, predominately to Bali.
