Press release

Traffic bulletin: overnight carriageway closures on the M3 in Surrey and Hampshire

The Highways Agency will be closing sections of the M3 this week for road surface repairs.

The closure dates are:

  • Tonight, Tuesday 16 December, the eastbound carriageway will be closed between junctions 4a and 2.
  • On Wednesday 17 December, the westbound carriageway will be closed between junctions 2 and 3.
  • On Thursday 18 December, the westbound carriageway will be closed between junctions 3 and 4.

All work will take place overnight between 9pm and 5.30am. There will be clearly signed diversions in place on all nights.

The work had been originally planned for last week but heavy rain and cold weather meant it had to be rescheduled.

Drivers using these sections of the M3 are advised to plan their journeys and allow some extra time to reach their destinations.

Live traffic information is available on the Highways Agency’s website and mobile app, and drivers can also listen to traffic bulletins on local radio for updates.
