The Secretary of State has appointed Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson as the Wales Member on the Board of UK Sport

Baroness Grey-Thompson has been appointed by the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport as Welsh Member of UK Sport for four years.

Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson was born and brought up in Cardiff. She received a BA (Hons) Politics and Social Admin from Loughborough. She competed at five Paralympic Games winning a total of 16 medals (11 Gold, 4 Silver and 1 Bronze) and held 35 world records.

She was elevated to the House of Lords in 2010 as a Crossbench Peer and has previously been a board member of the Sport Council for Wales, English Lottery Awards Panel, UK Sport, the National Disability Council, Transport for London, London Legacy Development Corporation, the BBC as well as serving as Chair of ukactive. She is currently a Board member of Yorkshire Cricket.

Remuneration and Governance Code

This role is remunerated at £218 per day. This appointment has been made in accordance with the Cabinet Office’s Governance Code on Public Appointments. The appointments process is regulated by the Commissioner for Public Appointments. Under the Code, any significant political activity undertaken by an appointee in the last five years must be declared. This is defined as including holding office, public speaking, making a recordable donation, or candidature for election. Baroness Grey-Thompson has been a Crossbench Peer since 2010. She has not undertaken any significant political activity for any political party.
