The Earl and Countess of Wessex in South Africa

The British Charge d’Affaires, Mr Martin Reynolds, has welcomed the news that Their Royal Highnesses The Earl and Countess of Wessex will undertake a visit to South Africa from 4 -11 October 2013 as part of HRH Prince Edward’s work with The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation and its local chapter, The President’s Award for Youth Empowerment Trust.

Their Royal Highnesses The Earl and Countess of Wessex will make a courtesy call on President Jacob Zuma in Cape Town and undertake engagements with a number of organisations that are of interest to them, including a tour of the Constitutional Court with Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng, the British Council-run Connect/ZA project, and a number of events related to The President’s Award for Youth Empowerment’s 30th Anniversary in South Africa.

During the visit, HRH Prince Edward will, on behalf of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, officially appoint Miss Natalie Du Toit to be an Honorary Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her contribution to Paralympic Sport.
