A Downing St spokesperson said:

The Prime Minister hosted the Prime Minister of Qatar, Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber bin Muhammad Al Thani, for lunch today in his constituency.

Discussion covered current international issues, in particular the situation in Syria. The leaders agreed that the brutal repression of the Assad regime was a dangerous and increasingly grave concern. They were clear on the importance of the Syrian regime accepting the Arab League’s initiative to end the violence and they agreed on the need to continue talking to the Syrian opposition movements to support the transition to an inclusive and stable democracy.
