This follows a public consultation in which the SSRO considered feedback from a range of sources, including industry and government.

The SSRO was pleased that the feedback generally endorsed the principles behind the methodology and the upcoming compliance report. Specifically, respondents felt that the methodology would encourage compliance by both the MOD and the defence industry.

The final methodology document is available on the SSRO’s website. The SSRO has also published on its website a response document to the consultation, which sets out the specific feedback received.

Compliance assessments are now being conducted using the methodology, and internal guidance has been produced to ensure that assessments are consistent and objective. The findings of the assessments will form the basis of the SSRO’s first comprehensive compliance report. The report will be an important part of the SSRO creating a transparent and accessible regulatory regime.
