Sellafield making Christmas magic for everyone

Our annual Christmas toy appeal has taken place again, with generous donations in both West Cumbria and Warrington.

Another brilliant fundraising effort by Sellafield Ltd employees, our supply chain and donations at supermarkets, has made a difference to children’s lives at Christmas.

Everyone has been really generous with over 1,600 toys donated for West Cumbria and Warrington.

Five charities have benefited from donations generated by Sellafield Ltd Christmas Campaign 2022.

The main Christmas charity that was supported in Cumbria was Family Action, who worked with the local councils to make sure every local child wakes up with a gift on Christmas day. Food was also donated to North Lakes Foodbank.

The charities that the Warrington office supported were:

  • Warrington Toy Appeal
  • Room at the Inn and the Y project
  • Barnardo’s in Warrington.

Kerry Jewell, Family Action, said:

We are overwhelmed with the contribution of gifts and toys from the people at Sellafield Ltd and in the supply chain.

The quality of gifts donated is fantastic and will make a huge difference to those children who would have, without our help, received very little or nothing at all on Christmas morning.

We are supporting 100 families, however due to the cost-of-living increase and more families struggling, we have additional families that continue to be referred in or refer themselves for support with gifts.

We have also provided funding for fruit and veg hampers and meat vouchers for families struggling in Copeland and Allerdale, as well as vouchers to buy pyjamas and presents for older children.

The total number of children helped through the Christmas Toy Appeal 2022 at Sellafield is 300 so far and 575 in Warrington.
