Secretary of State attends reception to recognise NI army medical services

Theresa Villiers MP attended a reception at Hillsborough Castle hosted by Minister Edwin Poots in recognition of the army medical services Northern Ireland.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The Secretary of State said: “On this Remembrance Sunday it is fitting that we make Hillsborough Castle available for this reception in recognition of the tremendous service provided by the army medical services of Northern Ireland in all theatres of conflict.

“Without their courage and tremendous skills many of our soldiers would not return from the field of battle. They make a huge contribution to saving lives and many service personnel owe them a large debt of gratitude.

“This is also a very sad day for the operation service of army medical services Northern Ireland as we remember their fallen friend and colleague Corporal Channing Day who paid the ultimate price. Our thoughts in particular are with her family at this time.

“I would like to join the Minister Edwin Poots in congratulating the Operation Service of Army Medical Services Northern Ireland for their wonderful efforts and extend to them and their families my good wishes for the future.”
