Secretary of State attends Chancellor’s lecture at University of Ulster

Theresa Villiers MP was at the University of Ulster to hear the chancellor's lecture delivered by Sir Ian McKellan CBE.

The Secretary of State, Theresa Villiers, today attended the chancellor’s lecture delivered by Sir Ian McKellan CBE at the University of Ulster, Magee.

The renowned actor also received an Honorary Degree from the university’s chancellor Dr James Nesbitt for his services to acting.

Ms Villiers said: “My congratulations to Sir Ian on this well-deserved honour. It is a tribute to all he has achieved in his outstanding acting career.

“Today’s event has provided another real boost to Derry/Londonderry in this auspicious City of Culture year, providing a further opportunity to promote both the city and Northern Ireland on a world stage.

“Forthcoming events in 2013 will provide many opportunities to do this which we can’t afford to miss.”
