Contractors for Highways England will resurface just over a mile of the A1 between what are known locally as West Moor and Burgham junctions near Felton from Monday 28 September.

The work also includes the replacement of 290 reflective road studs and road markings and will be carried out between 8pm and 6am.

Highways England project manager Steve Bishop said:

This work will be carried out at evenings when traffic levels are at their lowest to keep disruption to a minimum. When complete, this project will provide drivers with smoother and safer journeys.

A system of traffic lights will operate to take vehicles safely past the work on a single carriageway.

Some minor side roads will be affected by the work but clearly signed diversions will be in place.
