The 2.5 mile stretch of carriageway will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am to allow the work to be carried out safely and efficiently. Highways England project manager, Kyle Maylard, said:

We need to carry out these repairs and the resurfacing work to make sure people’s journeys remain smooth, safe and reliable. We’ll be carrying out the work overnight, at a time when the fewest people are using the road and we thank drivers for their patience.

During the overnight closures a clearly signed diversion route will be in place. Drivers will be diverted via the A689 Wolviston Road and the A1027 to re-join the A19 at the A19/A1027 interchange.

The work is planned to be completed by Friday 3 July.
