The work will take place overnight between 7.30pm and 6.00am from Wednesday 6 until Thursday, 14 January.

Highways England project manager Roger Stribling said:

The resurfacing is part of our commitment to maintaining England’s roads and will ensure smoother journeys and maintain safety.

The work has been planned to minimise disruption and will take place overnight when traffic flows are lowest. During the work it will be necessary to put some road closures in place but drivers will be able to continue their journeys by following a clearly signed diversion route.

The following diversion routes will be in place at different times. The scheme is weather dependent and dates may need to be changed.

When the M5 southbound to A30 west bound slip road is closed the diversion route will be be via the A38 westbound, then drivers will be directed to turn round at Kennford and continue their journey along the A38 eastbound to join the A30 at M5 junction 31, Pearces Hill. This closure is planned for the nights of 6 and 7 January.

The diversion route for eastbound traffic during closures between Fingle Glen and M5 junction 31 at Pearces Hill will be to leave the A30 at Fingle Glen and follow the C50 to Alphington junction. From there traffic will be directed via the A377 through the Marsh Barton industrial estate, to the Matford Roundabout. M5 northbound traffic will then follow the A379 north to the M5 at junction 30. A38 westbound traffic will follow the A379 south to the A38 at Kennford.

These closures are planned for the night of 10 January.
