Drivers are advised that essential resurfacing work will begin on the A12 between junctions 22 (Witham North) and 23 (Kelvedon South) northbound on Monday 27 July.

Highways England project manager, Jennie Fraser, said:

This resurfacing work will improve the condition of the road surface for drivers using this vital route through the region and we thank drivers for their patience.

The work will take place on the northbound carriageway for five nights. The A12 between junction 22 and junction 23 will be closed from Monday 27 July for five nights. The works will take place between 9pm and 6am.

During the overnight closures on the A12 northbound a clearly signed diversion route will be in place, traffic will be diverted at junction 22 onto the B1389, right onto The Avenue, straight to Chipping Hill, onto the B1018 to Westdrive, take third exit to the A120 northbound carriageway and remain on the A120 eastbound to junction 25 with the A12.

Local traffic that uses Rivenhall End will be diverted to use Oak Road north, Henry Dixon Road to the A12 southbound at junction 22 where they will exit and re-join the A12 northbound diversion route. This is for access to the village only.

Access for residents between junction 22 and the old Fox pub who require access will be escorted past the roadworks.

The work is dependent on suitable weather conditions, and dates may be subject to change.
