Queen's Birthday Party

Her Majesty’s Ambassador Dr Ian Collard and Mrs Collard recently hosted the annual Queen’s Birthday Party at their Residence in Panama City.

Her Majesty’s Ambassador Dr Ian Collard and Mrs Collard recently hosted the annual Queen’s Birthday Party at their Residence in Panama City. This year’s event was a special celebration of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 91st birthday.

The Government of Panama was represented by acting Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Farah Urrutia. In their speeches, HMA Collard and Mrs Urrutia described the past 12 months as an active period in the excellent relationship between Panama and the UK.

Some highlights include the Embassy’s comprehensive support of Panama’s educational development with MEDUCA. The Embassy is a leading partner of President Varela’s Panama Bilingue programme, facilitating several hundred Panamanian teachers to British universities.

The Embassy has also worked extensively across Panama’s government to deliver the shared ambition of greater transparency, openness and good governance in the public sector, including a partnership with Vice President St Malo, in which a new state of the art whistleblower mechanism was launched.

Also, through multiple exciting science and innovation projects, energy efficiency has been improved, remote Internet access has been provided, and infectious diseases have been tackled, among other things.

Themed as a traditional British garden party, guests, arrived to the sounds of a classical British music, and later enjoyed typical British food and drink.

Guest included members of the Panamanian government, civil society, businesses and British community living in Panama.
