Putting our best foot forward

Staff and contractors have walked more than three million steps around the Dounreay site to support Workout at Work day.

More than 700 people walked 5,000 steps each to support the event, held on June 10, which is organised by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy to promote the importance of being active during the working day.

Site physiotherapist, Miriam Sutherland, said: “I am delighted that so many people were involved. For some office based people, it can be very easy for a day to pass without much exercise. I hope our team takes this opportunity to try and continue it throughout the year. It is a very easy way of improving our health and wellbeing, which in turn could help with our productivity at work.”

Lorraine Malcolm, who participated, added: “It reminded me that I can do more than I sometimes think, despite suffering from regular pain. I need to get up and get moving more often and this was a great way to start.”
