Pubs Code: rent reviews scheduled between 21 July and 20 January 2017

Information for tied pub tenants who have a scheduled rent review between 21 July and 20 January 2017.

The government has introduced the Pubs Code today (Thursday 21 July). The code regulates the relationship between all businesses owning 500 or more tied pubs in England and Wales and their tied tenants. The Pubs Code Adjudicator (PCA) is responsible for enforcing the statutory Pubs Code.

Tied pub tenants

Scheduled rent review date falling on or between 21 July 2016 and 20 October 2016

Your pub company landlord must provide you with a code-compliant rent assessment proposal no later than 31 August 2016.

Scheduled rent review date falling on or between 21 October 2016 and 20 January 2017

Your pub company landlord must provide you with a code-compliant rent assessment proposal no later than 12 October 2016.

This requirement applies even if your landlord has already provided you with a rent assessment, unless a new tied rent offer has been accepted before 21 July 2016.
