Update on restoring power to areas affected by severe weather.

The government is in regular contact with the Electricity Distribution Networks Operators and the Energy Network Association. The Distribution Network Operators are very focused on keeping their customers updated in the event of any disruption to power supplies.

As of 0800hrs this morning, Western Power Distributers have made significant progress and operations are almost back to normal. In the South West 664 customers remain off, but Western Power Distributers are focussing efforts on those that have been off the longest and these are expected to be restored by midday, with the remainder expected by the end of today.

SSE has dealt with one overnight fault at Leafield in (North West of Oxford) affecting 49 customers. Repairs are underway and will be completed this morning.
