European freedom of movement

When asked about freedom of movement and access to benefits, the Prime Minister’s Official Spokesperson (PMOS) said the Prime Minister has been making the case for the need for further reform for some time. He added that the Prime Minister will continue to talk to his EU counterparts throughout the period of discussion on this subject.

Royal Mail

When asked about the Royal Mail’s universal service, the PMOS said there was a statutory requirement in the 2011 Act for a universal service. He added that, as per the legislation, there is a specific role for the regulator Ofcom to ensure the conditions are there that support this. He added parliament had rightly set this out; it was not going to change and the regulator would take decisions consistent with that.
