Poughley Bridge Refurbishment

Essential refurbishment work starts on Monday 16 February on the bridge which carries the local road between the B4000 and Radley Bottom over the M4 motorway between junctions 14 and 15 at Poughley.

This work, which is to ensure the bridge’s future integrity, will involve re-waterproofing the bridge deck, concrete repairs, replacement of joints and resurfacing work.

Work is scheduled to start on Monday 16 February 2015 and weather permitting, is expected to take up-to- three weeks to complete.

Highways Agency Service Delivery Manager Steve Cobb said:

It is important we carry out this work to help prolong the life of the structure and help keep journeys safe and reliable.

For the safety of our workforce and customers the bridge will be completely closed for the duration of the scheme with the following clearly signed diversions in place:

  • East of the bridge: via Hungerford Newtown
  • West of the bridge: via B4001 Stag Hill
