PM and Ban Ki-moon discuss attack on South Korea

Prime Minister David Cameron has spoken to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon following the artillery attack by North Korea on the South Korean island of Yeonpyeong

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The PM and UN Secretary General discussed the situation and there was strong agreement that North Korea’s unprovoked assault had been totally unacceptable.

They urged restraint and agreed that next steps should include discussion in the UN Security Council.

Foreign Secretary William Hague has also “strongly condemned” North Korea’s actions and urged the countries leaders to “adhere to the Korean Armistice agreement”.
