Planned roadworks in Yorkshire and the Humber: Weekly summary for Monday 13 October to Sunday 19 October

M1 junction 30 (Barlborough) to junction 31 (Aston), South Yorkshire: drainage and barrier work: The hard shoulder will be closed in both directions and there will be narrower lanes and a 50 mph speed limit over 24 hours; there will be single lane running northbound in place from the 17 October for two nights from 8pm to 10 am, during the day on 18 October between 10am to 8pm the northbound carriageway will be open to two lanes.

M1 junction 28 to 31 and 32 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire - Smart Motorway: Until spring 2015 there will be various restrictions in place to allow for the construction of the Smart Motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures. Delays are expected on the M1 northbound at junctions 30 and 31 from 6am on Saturday 18 October to 10am the following day, due to lane closures.

This week the following overnight closures will be in place from approx. 8pm to 6am with clearly signed diversions :

  • M18 junction 1 southbound entry slip road will be closed overnight on Monday 13 October
  • M1 southbound to M1 southbound link road will be closed overnight on Monday 13 and Friday 17 October
  • M1 northbound junction 32 exit slip road will be closed for three nights from Wednesday 15 October

M1 junction 39 (Durkar) to junction 42 (Lofthouse), West Yorkshire: smart motorway upgrade: The hard shoulder will be closed in both directions and there will be narrower lanes and a 50mph speed limit in place over 24 hours until autumn 2015. Various other overnight slip road, lane and carriageway closures may also be in place. There will be a full carriageway closure southbound between junction 39 and junction 40 for three nights from 17 October between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route.

M1 junction 41 (Carr Gate), West Yorkshire: slip road and roundabout widening: The southbound exit slip road will be closed for five nights from the 13 October between 7pm and 6am, with a clearly signed diversion route. The northbound exit slip road will be closed for five nights from the 13 October between 7pm and 6am, with a clearly signed diversion route.

M1 junction 36 (Tankersley) to junction 37 (Dodworth), South Yorkshire: slip road and roundabout widening: The northbound entry slip road will be closed for seven nights from the 13 October between 7pm and 6am, with a clearly signed diversion route.

M18 junction 2 (Wadworth) to junction 3 (St Catherines), South Yorkshire: Carriageway Widening Scheme: The hard shoulder will be closed with narrow lanes running with a 50mph speed restriction northbound and southbound over 24hrs until February 2015.

M18 junction 5 (Wadworth), South Yorkshire: Roundabout Widening Scheme: The hard shoulder will be closed with various overnight closures on the roundabout with 24/7 lane closures on the northbound entry slip and southbound exit slip until April 2015.

M62 junction 30 (Rothwell) to junction 32 (Castleford), West Yorkshire: electrical work: There will be narrow lanes with a 50mph speed restriction over 24 hours, and the hard shoulder will be closed in both directions until early 2015. There will be a full carriageway closure eastbound between junction 31 and junction 32 for five nights from 13 October between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route.

M62 junction 34 (East Riding) Sign work: The westbound exit slip will be closed overnight on the 16 October between 8pm to 6am with a clearly signed diversion in place. The eastbound exit slip will be closed overnight on the 17 October between 8pm to 6am with a clearly signed diversion in place.

M62 junction 33 (East Riding) Road marking The westbound entry slip will be closed overnight on the 13 October between 8pm to 6am with a clearly signed diversion in place.

M62 junction 22 (West Yorkshire) Road marking The westbound exit slip will be closed overnight on the 14 October between 8pm to 6am with a clearly signed diversion in place.

M62 junction 27 (West Yorkshire) Road marking The eastbound exit slip will be closed for two nights on the 15 October between 8pm to 6am with a clearly signed diversion in place.

M180 junction 3 (Midmoor) to M180 junction 2 (Woodhouse), Humberside: surfacing work There will be a full carriageway closure eastbound including a full link closure M180 eastbound to M181Northbound overnight on the 13 October between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route.

M180 junction 1 (Tudworth) to M180 junction 2 (Woodhouse), Humberside: surfacing work There will be a full carriageway closure eastbound for two nights on the 16 October between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route.

A616 Uskers Wood, South Yorkshire: emergency repairs Temporary traffic signals are in place 24 hours a day, with drivers being diverting via the nearby layby.

A63 Mytongate Gyratory to Brighton Street Interchange, Hull: patching work The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight on the 13 October between 8pm and 6am. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place.

A63 Myton Bridge (Market Place/Queen St), Kingston upon Hull: Bridge Maintenance Work There will be a full carriageway closure eastbound and westbound on 19 October between 6am and 2pm. Clearly signed diversion routes will be in place.

A64 Grimston to Hopgrove, North Yorkshire: patching work. The eastbound carriageway will be closed for overnight on the 13 October between 8pm and 6am. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place.

A64 Whitwell to Crambeck, North Yorkshire: patching work. There will be convoy working (speed 10mph) on the eastbound carriageway for five nights from the 13 October between 8pm and 6am.

A64 Bramham to Headley Bar, North Yorkshire: patching work. There will be a full carriageway closure eastbound for seven nights from the 16 October between 8pm and 6am.

A616 Westwood roundabout to Newton Chambers, South Yorkshire: cabling work The north & southbound carriageway between Westwood roundabout and Tankersley Manor will be closed overnight on the 13 October between 8pm and 6am. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place.

A628 Flouch to Gunn Inn, North west of Sheffield: Resurfacing work The eastbound and westbound carriageway will be for four nights from the 13 October between 8pm and 6am. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place. (Please note this is Monday to Thursday only)

A616 Stocksbridge Bypass, South Yorkshire: new roundabout installation There will be a 30mph speed limit in place 24 hours a day until October 2014.

  • keep within the speed limit – it is there for your safety
  • get into the correct lane in good time – don’t keep switching
  • concentrate on the road ahead, not the roadworks
  • be alert for works’ traffic leaving or entering roadworks
  • keep a safe distance – there could be queues in front
  • observe all signs – they are there to help you
