Planned roadworks in Yorkshire and the Humber: Weekly summary for Monday 12 January to Sunday 18 January
The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 7 January but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
M1 junction 28 to 31 and 32 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: Smart Motorway
Until winter 2016 there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 28 and 35a to allow for the construction of the Smart Motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures.
Until March 2015 there will be various restrictions in place on the M18 between junction 0 and 2. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures.
The following overnight slip road closures will be in place:
- The southbound exit slip road at junction 32 will be closed for two nights from the 12 January between 8pm and 6am, with a clearly signed diversion route
M1 junction 30 (Barlborough) to junction 31 (Aston), South Yorkshire: drainage and barrier work
The hard shoulder will be closed in both directions and there will be narrower lanes and a 50 mph speed limit over 24 hours until autumn 2015.
M1 junction 39 (Durkar) to junction 42 (Lofthouse), West Yorkshire: smart motorway upgrade
The hard shoulder will be closed in both directions and there will be narrower lanes and a 50mph speed limit in place over 24 hours until autumn 2015.
The southbound exit slip road at Junction 40 will be fully closed for two nights from the 12 January between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route. There will be a full carriageway closure northbound between junction 39 and junction 40 for three nights from the 16 January between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route. There will be a full carriageway closure southbound between junction 39 and junction 40 for three nights from the 9 January between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route.
M1 junction 41 (Carr Gate), West Yorkshire: slip road and roundabout widening
The northbound exit slip road will be closed for five nights from the 12 January between 7pm and 6am, with a clearly signed diversion route.
M1 junction 31 (Aston) to junction 32 (Thurcroft), South Yorkshire: drainage and barrier work
There will be a full southbound carriageway closure between junction 31 and 32 for two nights from the 12 January between 8pm and 6am, with a clearly signed diversion route.
M18 junction 2 (Wadworth) to junction 3 (St Catherines), South Yorkshire: Carriageway Widening Scheme
The hard shoulder will be closed with narrow lanes running with a 50mph speed restriction northbound and southbound over 24hrs until March 2015. There will be a full north and southbound carriageway closure for five nights from the 12 January between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route.
M18 junction 5 (Ings), South Yorkshire: Roundabout Widening Scheme
The hard shoulder will be closed with a lane 1 closure on the northbound entry slip road and lane 2 on northbound exit slip road until April 2015.
M62 junction 30 (Rothwell) to junction 32 (Castleford), West Yorkshire: electrical work
There will be narrow lanes with a 50mph speed restriction over 24 hours, and the hard shoulder will be closed in both directions until early 2015. There will be a full carriageway closure eastbound between junction 30 to junction 31 overnight on the 12 January between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route. There will be a full carriageway closure eastbound between junction 31 to junction 32 overnight on the 13 January between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route.
M62 junction 37 (Howden) East Yorkshire: technology work
There will be a full closure of the westbound entry slip road overnight on the 12 January between 8pm and 6am, with a clearly signed diversion route.
M180 junction 3 (Midmoor) to M180 junction 4 (Broughton), Humberside: surfacing works
There will be a full carriageway closure westbound for eight nights from the 12 January between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route.
M180 junction 2 (Woodhouse) to M180 junction 3 (Midmoor), Humberside: surfacing works
There will be a full carriageway closure westbound for seven nights from the 12 January between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route.
A64 Bilbrough to Headley Bar, North Yorkshire, pavement patching.
There will be a full carriageway closure westbound for seven nights from the 12 January between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route.
A64 East Knapton West Heslerton, North Yorkshire, pavement patching.
There will be convoy working eastbound and westbound for four nights from the 12 January between 8pm and 6am. There will be a 24hr full carriageway closure eastbound from 8pm on Friday 16 January to 6 am on Monday 19 January, there will be a clearly signed diversion route in place.
A64 Grimston Bar, North Yorkshire, barrier work
The eastbound entry slip road will be closed for five nights from the 12 January between 8pm and 6am there will be a clearly signed diversion route.
The westbound exit slip will be closed for three nights from the 14 January between 8pm and 6am there will be a clearly signed diversion route.
A1033 Northern Gateway to Marfleet, East Yorkshire, Utility Work
There will be a 24hr lane 1 closure eastbound from 8pm on Friday 16 January to 6 am Monday 19 January.
The Highways Agency is working with the industry and road users to reduce the risks of working on the roads. For the safety of road workers and all road users, when you are approaching roadworks:
- keep within the speed limit – it is there for your safety
- get into the correct lane in good time – don’t keep switching
- concentrate on the road ahead, not the roadworks
- be alert for works’ traffic leaving or entering roadworks
- keep a safe distance – there could be queues in front
- observe all signs – they are there to help you
