Planned roadworks in Yorkshire and the Humber: Weekly summary for Monday 1 December to Sunday 7 December
The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 27 November but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
M1 junction 28 to 31 and 32 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway
Until the winter of 2016 there will be various restrictions in place to allow for the construction of the smart motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures. This week there will be a number of lane closures while following full closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- Monday 1 December: M18 southbound to M1 southbound link;
- Tuesday 2 December: M18 northbound junction 1 and M1 northbound junction 32 exit slip road;
- Wednesday 3 December: M18 northbound junction 1 exit slip road and M1 J32 northbound exit slip road; and
- Thursday 4 December: M18 northbound junction 1 exit slip road and M18 southbound to M1 southbound link.
M1 junction 30 (Barlborough) to junction 31 (Aston), South Yorkshire: drainage and barrier work
The hardshoulder will be closed in both directions and there will be narrower lanes and a 50 mph speed limit over 24 hours. The northbound exit slip at junction 30 will be closed overnight on the 25 November between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route.
M1 junction 39 (Durkar) to junction 42 (Lofthouse), West Yorkshire: smart motorway upgrade
The hardshoulder will be closed in both directions and there will be narrower lanes and a 50mph speed limit in place over 24 hours until autumn 2015. Various other overnight slip road, lane and carriageway closures may also be in place.
There will be a full carriageway closure northbound between junction 39 and junction 40 for two nights from 1 December between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route. There will be a full carriageway closure northbound between junction 40 and junction 41 overnight on the 3 December between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route. There will be a full carriageway closure southbound between junction 39 and junction 40 for two nights from the 4 December between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route. There will be a full carriageway closure northbound between junction 41 and junction 42 for two nights from the 6 December between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route.
M1 junction 41 (Carr Gate), West Yorkshire: slip road and roundabout widening
The southbound exit slip and entry slip road will be closed for five nights from the 1 December between 7pm and 6am, with a clearly signed diversion route. The northbound exit and entry slip road will be closed for five nights from the 1 December between 7pm and 6am, with a clearly signed diversion route.
M18 junction 2 (Wadworth) to junction 3 (St Catherines), South Yorkshire: carriageway widening
The hardshoulder will be closed with narrow lanes running with a 50mph speed restriction northbound and southbound over 24hrs until February.
M18 junction 5 (Ings), South Yorkshire: roundabout widening
The hardshoulder will be closed with various overnight closures on the roundabout with 24/7 lane closures on the northbound entry slip and southbound exit slip until April.
M62 junction 30 (Rothwell) to junction 32 (Castleford), West Yorkshire: electrical work
There will be narrow lanes with a 50mph speed restriction over 24 hours, and the hard shoulder will be closed in both directions until early 2015.
The eastbound exit slip at junction 31 will be closed for two nights on the 1December between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route. The eastbound exit slip at junction 32 will be closed for two nights on the 1December and then for another two nights on the 4 December between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route.
M606 junction 1 (Chainbar) to junction 3 (Staygate), West Yorkshire: surfacing works
There will be a full carriageway closure northbound for five nights from the 1 December between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route
A1M junction 34 (Blyth) to junction 35 (Wadworth), South Yorkshire, roadmarkings and studs
There will be a full carriageway closure northbound for three nights from the 3 December between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route.
A1M junction 34 (Blyth) to junction 35 (Wadworth), South Yorkshire, overhead power cables
There will be a full carriageway closure northbound & southbound overnight on the 6 December between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route.
A1 B6474 Wentedge Road junction (Wentbridge), West Yorkshire: sign works
There will be a full closure of the northbound entry slip overnight on the 3 December between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route.
A1 A639 (Barnsdale Bar), SouthYorkshire: sign works
There will be a full closure of the northbound entry and exit slip overnight on the 3 December between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route.
A64 Staxton to Seamer, North Yorkshire: patching works.
There will be a full carriageway closure eastbound for seven nights from the 1 December between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route.
A616 Deepcar, SouthYorkshire: sign works
There will be a full closure of the westbound entry overnight on the 3 December between 8pm and 6am with a clearly signed diversion route.
A616 Stocksbridge Bypass, South Yorkshire: new roundabout installation
There will a 30mph speed limit in place 24 hours a day until 30 November.
A616 Woodhead, South Yorkshire: landslip works
There will be 24 hour traffic signals on the westbound carriageway until the 21 December.
