The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of Friday 26 February but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

A1 junction 56 Barton to junction 51 Leeming Bar

There will be phases of overnight lane closures and full carriageway closures while work takes place to upgrade the road to motorway standards. There will also be narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction 24 hours a day. On Monday 29 February there will be a carriageway closure northbound between junction 56 and Scotch Corner, and southbound between junction 56 and Scotch Corner. From Tuesday 1 to Friday 4 March there will be a carriageway closure north and southbound between Scotch Corner and junction 56. All there closures will take place between 8pm and 6am, with diversions in place. The project is due to be completed by spring 2017.

A1 Lamesley to Swalwell, Gateshead

Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place while work is carried out to upgrade the section of the A1 past Gateshead. There will be a carriageway closure northbound between junctions 67 and 70, and southbound between junctions 73 and 67, taking place from Monday 29 February to Friday 4 March. This will take place between 8pm and 6am with diversions in place. There are also overnight lane closures between 8pm and 6am. The project is due to be completed by early summer 2016.

A1 Morpeth, Northumberland

There will be work ongoing until the end of 2016 for the construction of a bypass. There will be various phases of daytime and night time lane and carriageway closures, with narrow lanes and a 40mph speed restriction in place. From Monday 29 February to Saturday 5 March there will be a carriageway closure southbound, taking place between 8pm and 6am with a diversion in place.

A1 Tritlington, Northumberland

There will be traffic signals in operation north and southbound 24 hours a day for construction work. This will take place until the beginning of April.

A1M junctions 58 to 59, County Durham

There will be a carriageway closure north and southbound for electrical work. This will take place Saturday 5 March between 8pm and 6am.

A19 Seaton Burn to Fisher Lane roundabout, North Tyneside

There will be a carriageway closure north and southbound for resurfacing work. This will take place Sunday 28 February between 8pm and 6am, with a diversion in place.

A66 Blands Corner to Neasham Road roundabout, Darlington bypass

There will be a carriageway closure east and westbound for resurfacing work. This will take place Monday 29 February to Sunday 20 March between 8pm and 6am, with a diversion in place.

A66 Hutton Magna, North Yorkshire

There will be convoy working in operation east and westbound for lining work. This will take place Monday 29 February between 8pm and 6am.

A66 Ravensworth, North Yorkshire

There will be convoy working in operation east and westbound for lining work. This will take place Tuesday 1 to Monday 7 March between 8pm and 6am.
