Planned roadworks in North East: Weekly summary for Monday 27th October to Sunday 2nd November 2014

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 24th October but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

A1M junction 59 to 60, Darlington to Bradbury, Newton Aycliffe, County Durham: Bridge repairs

A nightly contraflow will be in place with all traffic on the northbound carriageway with the southbound carriageway closed. Cylinders will be in place during the day on the northbound carriageway. Work will be ongoing until the end of November. A 50mph speed restriction will be in place at all times.

A1M junction 63 Interchange, Chester-le-Street, County Durham: Improvement work

There will be various lane closures on the southbound exit slip road and roundabout, ongoing until spring 2015.

A1 Junction 56 to Junction 51, North Yorkshire: Motorway upgrade work

There will be phases of night time lane closures, contraflows and full carriageway closures north and southbound. There will also be narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction 24 hours a day. Work will be ongoing until March 2017.

A1 Coalhouse to Swalwell Interchanges, Newcastle/Gateshead Western Bypass: Major upgrading work

There are 24 hour narrow lanes, contraflow and a 40mph speed restriction currently in place. Further phases of carriageway closures, lane closures and contraflow will be ongoing until spring 2016.

A1 Scremeston to East Ord, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland: Resurfacing work

A 24hr carriageway closure will be in place north and southbound with diversions clearly signed, starting Friday 24 October 8pm reopening to traffic Monday 27 October at 6am.

A1 Seaton Burn Interchange, Cramlington, Northumberland: Junction Improvement work

There will be a full closure of the Fisher Lane roundabout and slip roads from 8pm Friday 24 October until 6am on Monday 27 October. The A1 northbound and southbound traffic in the vicinity of Seaton Burn will not be affected. Work to improve the interchange will be ongoing until December 2014. Phases of night time lane closures and some slip road closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am. A 50mph speed restriction will be in place throughout the works.

A1 Newton on the Moor, Northumberland: Kerbing work

There will be daytime lane closures northbound between 8am and 6pm. Work will take place until mid-November.

A1 North Brunton to Kenton Bar Interchange, Newcastle Western Bypass: Signing and lining work

There will be phases of overnight carriageway and lane closures between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place until mid-November.

A66M Junction 57 to Blackwell, County Durham: Resurfacing

There will be overnight carriageway closures eastbound between 8pm and 6am. The work will take place until 29 October.

A1 Stannington Interchange, Northumberland: Resurfacing

There will be various night time closures of the interchange and slip roads between 8pm and 6am. The work will take place until 31 October.

A1 Haggerston, Northumberland: Resurfacing

There will be overnight carriageway closures north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. The work will take place until mid-November.

A1M Junction 65 to Junction 63, County Durham: Resurfacing

There will be a carriageway closure southbound, with diversions in place, between 8pm and 6am. The work will take place until early November.

A1 River Coquet to Warreners House, Northumberland: Lining work

There will be convoy working in place north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. The work will take place until early November.

A1M Junction 58, County Durham: Resurfacing

The northbound entry slip will be closed, with diversions in place, between 8pm and 6am. The work will take until 28 October.

A1 Denwick to South Charlton, Northumberland: Surveys

There will be traffic signals in place north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. The work will take place until 1 November.

A194M Havannah Interchange, South Tyneside: Resurfacing

There will be a closure of the northbound exit slip between 8pm and 6am. The work will take place until 5 November.

A194M / A184 Whitemare Pool, South Tyneside: Resurfacing

There will be slip road and lane closures east and westbound between 8pm and 6am. The work will take place until 29 October.

A66 Preston Farm to Elton, Teesside: Resurfacing

There will be night time lane and junction closures from 24 October, with diversions in place. Contraflow work will take place over four weekends starting on Friday 31 October. The westbound carriageway will be closed from 8pm on Friday evening until 6pm on Monday morning, with two-way traffic flow maintained on the eastbound carriageway. A 50 mph speed limit will be in operation for the duration of the works.

On Mondays to Fridays, both the eastbound and westbound carriageways will be open with two lanes operational in each direction; however contraflow cylinders will remain in place between lanes.

A66 Blands Corner, Darlington Bypass: Horticultural work

There will be traffic lights in place east and westbound between 8pm and 6am. The work will take place 29 October to 5 November.

A194M Follingsby Interchange, South Tyneside: Improvement work

There will be various phases of night time lane and slip road closures north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. The work will take place 27 October until early December.

A1 Stannington, Northumberland: Resurfacing

The northbound carriageway will be closed and a 24 hour contraflow will be in place on the southbound carriageway, with a 50mph speed restriction. The work will take place 26 October until mid-November. Overnight on Wednesday 29 October the southbound carriageway will be closed with a diversion in place.
