Planned roadworks in North East: Weekly summary for Monday 26 January to Sunday 1 February 2015

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 23 January but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
A1M junction 63 Interchange, Chester-le-Street, County Durham: Improvement work
There will be various lane closures on the southbound exit slip road and roundabout, ongoing until spring 2015.
A1 Junction 56 to Junction 51, North Yorkshire: Motorway upgrade work
There will be phases of night time lane closures, contraflows and full carriageway closures north and southbound. There will also be narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction 24 hours a day. Work will be ongoing until March 2017.
A1 Coalhouse to Swalwell Interchanges, Newcastle/Gateshead Western Bypass: Major upgrading work
There are 24 hour narrow lanes, contraflow and a 40mph speed restriction currently in place. There are also night time lane closures in place north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. Further phases of carriageway closures, lane closures and contraflow will be ongoing until spring 2016.
A1 Seaton Burn Interchange, Cramlington, Northumberland: Junction improvement work
Work to improve the interchange will be ongoing until mid February. Phases of night time lane closures and some slip road closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am. Lane 1 will be closed between 8am and 6pm on 25 January and there will be full closures of the northbound carriageway and northbound exit slip overnight between 8pm and 6am between 26 and 30 January. A 50mph speed restriction will be in place throughout the works.
A1 Newton Low Hall to Old Felton, Northumberland: Resurfacing work
The southbound carriageway will be closed with a 24-hour contra-flow on the north bound carriageway. A 50mph speed restriction will be in operation. The works will take place until 25 January.
A1M Junction 62 to 63, County Durham: Barrier work
There will be 24 hour lane closures north and southbound for the duration of the works. From 28 January there will be 24/7 hardshoulder and lane 1 running with lane 2 being closed. The works will take place until end of April.
A1 Smeafield, Northumberland: Drainage work
There will be daytime traffic signals north and southbound between 8am and 6pm. The works will take place until mid February.
A1 Conundrum Farm to Scottish Border, Northumberland: Resurfacing work
There will be night time convoy working between 8pm and 6am, and daytime lane closure between 6am and 8pm. The works will take place until mid February.
A1 Tritlington to Earsdon, Northumberland: Technology work
There will be traffic signals north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. There will also be a 40mph speed limit in place 24 hours a day. The works will take place until mid February.
A1 Newton on the Moor to West Cawledge, Northumberland: Inspection work
There will be a lane closure southbound between 8am and 6pm. The works will take place 26 January.
A184 Whitemare Pool to Testos, South Tyneside: Horticultural work
There will be lane closures in place east and westbound between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place 26 – 31 January.
