Planned roadworks in North East: Weekly summary for Monday 16th March to Sunday 22nd March 2015
The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 10th March but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
A1M junction 63 Interchange, Chester-le-Street, County Durham: Improvement work
There will be various lane closures on the southbound exit slip road and roundabout, ongoing until spring 2015.
A1 Junction 56 to Junction 51, North Yorkshire: Motorway upgrade work
There will be phases of night time lane closures, contraflows and full carriageway closures north and southbound. There will also be narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction 24 hours a day. Work will be ongoing until March 2017. Additionally there will be a full north and southbound closure between Scotch Corner and Junction 56 on 16 March, and northbound between Scotch Corner and Junction 56 17 – 20 March. These closures will take place between 8pm and 6am with diversions in place. Following on from this there will be a full southbound closure between Scotch Corner and Junction 51 and northbound between Junction 50 and Scotch Corner, taking place from 5pm 21 March through to 11pm 22 March, with diversions in place.
A1 Coalhouse to Swalwell Interchanges, Newcastle/Gateshead Western Bypass: Major upgrading work
There are 24 hour narrow lanes, contraflow and a 40mph speed restriction currently in place. There are also night time lane closures in place north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. Further phases of carriageway closures, lane closures and contraflow will be ongoing until spring 2016. Additionally there will be a full closure northbound at Lobley Hill with a diversion in place. This will take place between 8pm and 6am 16 – 20 March.
A1 Seaton Burn Interchange, Cramlington, Northumberland: Junction improvement work
Work to improve the interchange will be ongoing until 28 March. Phases of night time lane closures and some carriageway closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am. A 50mph speed restriction will be in place throughout the work.
A1M Junction 62 to 63, County Durham: Barrier work
There will be 24/7 hardshoulder and lane 1 running with lane 2 being closed north and southbound. The work will take place until mid May.
A1 Alnwick, Northumberland: Alnwick South Bridge refurbishment phase 2
There will be a full closure southbound with all traffic running in contraflow on the northbound carriageway 24 hours a day. The A1068 below the bridge will operate under traffic signal control. The work will take place until August 2015.
A19 Seaton Burn to Howdon, North Tyneside: Lining work
There will be a full closure northbound between Moor Farm and Fisher Lane 9 – 11 March. This will be followed by a southbound closure between Fisher Lane and Moor Farm 12 – 16 March. All works will take place between 8pm and 6am.
A1 Berwick, Northumberland: Sign work
There will be traffic signals and lane closures in operation north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. The work will take place until19 March.
A66 Long Newton to Preston Farm, Teesside: Electrical work
There will be a lane closure east and westbound between 8pm and 6am. The work will take place 16 – 20 March.
A1 Morpeth, Northumberland: Horticultural work
There will be a lane closure north and southbound between 8am and 5pm. The work will take place 9 – 19 March.
A1 Cheswick, Northumberland: Sign work
There will be traffic signals in operation north and southbound between 7am and 7pm. The work will take place 16 March.
A1 Scremerston, Northumberland: Sign work
There will be traffic signals in operation north and southbound between 7am and 7pm. The work will take place 17 March.
A1 Smeafield, Northumberland: Drainage work
There will be traffic signals in operation north and southbound between 8am and 6pm. The work will take place 18 - 31 March.
A1 North Charlton, Northumberland: Sign work
There will be traffic signals in operation north and southbound between 7am and 7pm. The work will take place 20 March.
A19 Fisher Lane to Moor Farm, North Tyneside: Survey work
There will be a lane closure north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. The work will take place 16 - 26 March.
A1 Stannington, Northumberland: Footpath crossing work
There will be lane closures in place north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. The work will take place until 27 March.
