Planned roadworks in Kent and Sussex: Weekly summary for Monday 31 August to Sunday 6 September 2015

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 28 August but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M2 junction 2 Rochester, Kent: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys on the M2 near Rochester by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The coastbound exit and entry slip road at junction 2 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Wednesday 2 September for 2 nights. In addition, the entry slip road at junction 1 will be closed with two lanes remaining open on the main carriageway between junctions 1 and 2. A 50mph speed limit will be in place in the remaining open lanes.

Clearly signed diversions are outlined below:

  • road users who wish to join the M2 coastbound at junction 1 will remain on the A289, joining the M2/A2 Londonbound to Cobham where they will exit and then join the coastbound A2/M2 carriageway
  • road users wishing to exit the M2 at junction 2 will remain on the M2 to junction 3 and return on the London-bound carriageway to junction 2
  • road users wishing to join the M2 coastbound at junction 2 will join the M2 London-bound to Cobham where they will exit and then join the coastbound carriageway

M2 junctions 4 Gillingham to 6 Faversham, Kent: joint and bearing replacement

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking bridge joint and bearing replacement on the M2 between junctions 4 (Gillingham) and 6 (Faversham) will continue this week. The local roads Mount Lane and Bottom Pond Road will be closed underneath the motorway until October. Clearly signed diversions will be in place for these local roads.

M2 Bredhurst, Hempstead, Kent: bridge joint maintenance

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking bridge joint maintenance work on the M2 Bredhurst overbridge will start this week. Two way traffic lights will be in place, between 9.30am and 4pm, from Tuesday 1 September for 2 days.

M2 Brogdale, Faversham, Kent: bridge joint maintenance

Work to improve journeys by undertaking bridge joint maintenance work on the M2 Brogdale overbridge will start this week. Two way traffic lights will be in place, between 9.30am and 4pm, from Thursday 3 September for 2 days.

M20 junction 10 Ashford, Kent: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve safety by carrying out resurfacing work will continue this week. The London-bound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Friday 4 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A292, A2070 and the A28.

A2 Bean, Kent: joint replacement

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking bridge joint replacement work on the A2 Bean Road overbridge will start this week. The northbound Bean Road wil be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Sunday 6 September. In addition, there will be a lane closure on Bean Lane roundabout, with one lane remaining open. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A2. Work is due to be complete by mid September.

A2/A2260 Ebbsfleet, Kent: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys on the A2 at Ebbsfleet by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The coastbound carriageway will be closed between the entry and exit slip roads at Ebbsfleet overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Tuesday 1 September for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Ebbsfleet interchange to the roundabout to rejoin the carriageway at the entry slip road.

The coastbound exit slip road at Ebssfleet junction will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Thursday 3 September. signed clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A2 to Tollgate and return to exit at Pepperhill.

A21 Tonbridge to Pembury, Kent: major improvement work

Work to improve journeys on the A21 between Tonbridge and Pembury will continue this week and is due to be complete in spring 2017. Temporary two-way traffic lights will be in place between Vauxhall and Longfield overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Tuesday 1 August for 4 nights.

A27 Hammerpot Hill, West Sussex: drainage investigation

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out drainage investigation work will start this week. A lane closure will be in place on the westbound carriageway between Hammerpot Hill and Arundel Road overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Wednesday 2 September for 3 nights. In addition, there will be a lane closure on the eastbound carriageway at Crossbush interchange during the same time.
