Planned roadworks in Kent and Sussex: Weekly summary for Monday 17 November – Sunday 23 November 2014

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 17 November but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M20 junction 5 to 6, Maidstone, Kent: Joint replacement and drainage

The coastbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed and there will be lane closures on the coastbound main carriageway and a reduced speed limit of 50mph on Monday 17 November. Road users wishing to join the M20 at junction 5 will be diverted via junction 4. Road users wishing to exit at junction 6 will be diverted via junction 7. The coastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Tuesday 18 November for four nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the entry and exit slip roads .

M20 junctions 10 to 11 Smeeth, Ashford, Kent: Slope stabilisation work

A lane one closure and a 50mph speed limit will continue to be in place on the coastbound carriageway 24/7 until the middle of December.

A2 Boughton to Harbledown, Kent: Carriageway resurfacing

A lane closure will be in place on the coastbound carriageway between Boughton and Harbledown overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Friday 21 November for two consecutive nights.

A2 Ebbsfleet to Bean, Kent: Carriageway resurfacing

The London-bound Bean Interchange exit slip road will be closed overnight from Monday 17 November for six consecutive nights. In addition, single lane running and a 50mph speed limit will be in place on the London-bound carriageway. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Darenth Interchange and the A2. The London-bound carriageway between the slip roads at the Bean Interchange will be closed overnight on Sunday 23 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads. Work is due to finish early December.

A21 Barnetts Wood, Tonbridge, Kent: Bridge deconstruction

The A21 will be closed in both directions between Morley’s roundabout and the Vauxhall interchange from 8pm on Saturday 22 November until 5am on Monday 24 November. The laybys will be closed in both directions from 10pm on Friday 21 November until 6pm on Monday 24 November.

A21 Barnetts Wood, Tonbridge, Kent: Road surveys

Lane closures will be in place on the coastbound carriageway at Barnetts Wood overnight, between 8pm and 6am, for two nights from Wednsaday 19 November.

A21 Quarry Hill, Tonbridge, Kent: Road surveys

Lane closures will be in place on the coastbound carriageway between Quarry Hill and Lower Haysden overnight, between 8pm and 6am, for two nights from Wednesday 19 November.

A21 Pillory Corner, Flimwell, East Sussex: Road surveys

Carriageways in both directions between Scotney Castle and Flimwell Crossroads will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 17 November for five nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A262, A229 and the A268

A21 Stock Green, Hildenborough, Kent: Road surveys

Lane closures will be in place in both directions at Stock Green overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 17 November for two nights.

A21 Whatlington to Seddlescombe, East Sussex: Drainage work

A lane closure and temporary traffic lights will be in place at Marley Lane overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 17 November at Marley Lane between 8pm and 6am each night. The lay-by will continue to be closed on the London-bound carriageway adjacent to Marley Lane 24/7. Work is due to finish Saturday 6 December.

A23 Handcross to Warninglid, West Sussex: Major improvement work

Both carriageways and the coastbound entry slip road at Handcross will continue to be closed between Handcross and Warninglid overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 17 November to Friday 21 November. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the A264, A24 and the A272. The London-bound Warninglid exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, for two nights from Thursday 20 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via A264, A24 and the A272.

A23 Hickstead, West Sussex: Resurfacing work

The London-bound carriageway between Pyecombe and Hickstead will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5am, from Thursday 21 November for two nights,. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A273 and A2300. Work is due to finish on Thursday 27 November.

A23 Pyecombe, West Sussex: Resurfacing work

The London-bound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5am, from Monday 17 November for three nights.A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A281, B2117 and the B2118. The London-bound exit slip road at Pyecombe will also be closed during this time. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A23, B2117 and the A281.

A249 Sheppey Crossing, Kent: Carriageway resurfacing work

The London-bound carriageway will be closed from 8pm on Saturday 22 November until 6pm on Sunday 23 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Kingsferry Bridge.

A27 Fontwell, West Sussex: Vegetation clearance

Westbound lane closures will be in place at Fontwell overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on weeknights only from Monday 17 November for two weeks.

A27 Hammerpot Hill, Sussex: Drainage surveys

A lane will be closed in both directions on Thursday 20 November between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

A27 Manor Road, Worthing, West Sussex: Footpath construction

Westbound lane closures and a 40mph speed limit will be in place between the Vosa lay by and the Sussex Pad junction overnight, between 7.30pm and 6am, from Monday 17 November for five weeks.

A27 Kingston near Lewes, East Sussex: Resurfacing work

The westbound carriageway will continue to be closed between the Southerham roundabout and the Falmer interchange overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 17 November for three nights through to Wednesday 19 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A26, A259 and A23. From Thursday 20 November The eastbound carriageway will be closed between the Falmer Interchange and the Southerham Roundabout overnight, between 8pm and 6am. from Thursday 20 November for four nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A23, A259 and the A26.

A27 Worthing, West Sussex: Lighting replacement

Lane closures and temporary traffic lights will continue to be in place between the Grove Lodge roundabout and Lyons Farm, between 9.30am and 3.30pm and between 8pm and 6am, (Monday to Friday only) until Friday 12 December.

A27 Whyke Roundabout, Chichester, West Sussex: Drainage improvement

Narrow lanes will continue to be in place during the daytime with lane closures in place in both directions overnight (Monday to Friday only), between 8pm and 6am, around the Whyke Roundabout. Work is due to be completed in early December.
