The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 4 March but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 28 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway

Until winter 2016, there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 28 and 35a to allow for the construction of the smart motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures.

On Monday 7 March, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:

  • the southbound entry slip road at junction 35a
  • the northbound entry and exit slip roads at Woodall services
  • the northbound entry and exit slip roads at junction 31

On Tuesday 8 March, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:

  • the southbound entry slip road at junction 35a
  • the northbound entry and exit slip roads at junction 29
  • the northbound entry and exit slip roads at Woodall services
  • the northbound entry and exit slip roads at junction 31

On Wednesday 9 March, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:

  • the southbound entry slip road at junction 35a
  • the southbound entry slip road at junction 30

On Thursday 10 March, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:

  • the southbound exit slip road at junction 34
  • the southbound entry and exit slip roads at Woodall services
  • the southbound entry and exit slip roads at junction 30

On Friday 11 March, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:

  • the southbound entry slip road at junction 35a
  • the northbound entry slip road at junction 31

On Saturday 12 March, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:

  • the northbound exit slip road at junction 31
  • the southbound entry and exit slip roads at Woodall services

On Sunday 13 March, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:

  • the northbound exit slip road at junction 31
  • the southbound entry and exit slip roads at Woodall services
  • the southbound up and over at junction 31

M1 junction 19 to 16, Northamptonshire: smart motorway

There will be a series of closures on the southbound carriageway between junctions 18 and 16 in the coming week. The southbound will close each night at 10pm and will reopen the next morning at 6am. Closures are planned for the nights of 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 March.

During the closures, the M1 southbound traffic will be diverted onto the A5 southbound at junction 18, onto the A5 to the cross roads with the A45 at Flore, left at the traffic lights on the A45, to rejoin the M1 southbound at junction 16.

M1 junction 15a, Northamptonshire: survey work

The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight at junction 15a from 10pm on Monday 7 March until 6am on Tuesday 8 March, and again from 10pm on Tuesday 8 March until 6am on Wednesday 9 March. Diversions will be signposted.

A52 Clifton Bridge to Nottingham Knight roundabout, Nottinghamshire: carriageway repairs

The eastbound carriageway and entry slip road will be closed overnight from 8pm on 7 March until 5am on 8 March. Diversions will be signposted.
