Planned roadworks in East Midlands: Weekly summary for Monday 23 November to Sunday 29 November 2015
The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 20 November but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 16 to 19, Northamptonshire: smart motorways preparatory work
There will be various restrictions in place to allow for the smart motorway preparatory work to be undertaken. These include speed restrictions, narrow lanes and hard shoulder running.
On Monday 23 November, the M1 northbound will be closed overnight between junctions 18 and 19 from 9pm until 6am.
On Tuesday 24 November, the M1 northbound between junctions 16 and 18 – including the M45 entry slip road – will be closed overnight from 9pm until 6am.
On Wednesday 25 November, the M1 southbound will be closed overnight between junctions 19 and 18 from 9pm until 6am.
On Thursday 26 November, the M1 southbound will be closed overnight between junction 18 and 16 from 9pm until 6am.
M1 junction 19, Leicestershire: road improvement scheme
On Monday 23 November, the M1 southbound will be closed at junction 19 from 9pm until 6am.
M1 southbound traffic will be diverted off at junction 20, head south down the A426 to M6 junction 1 and then head east to rejoin the M1.
On Thursday 26 November, the M1 southbound will be closed between junctions 19 and 18 and the M6 southbound will be closed junction 1 overnight from 9pm until 6am.
M1 south bound traffic will be diverted off the M1 at junction 20. Traffic will head south on the A426 to Gibbet Hill roundabout then head south on the A5 and re-join the M1 at junction 18.
M6 southbound traffic will exit at junction 1, head north on the A426 to gibbet hill roundabout then the M1 southbound traffic will turn right and head south on the A5 and re-join the M1 at junction 18. A14 traffic will continue up the A426 to M1 junction 20, head south to junction 19 and join the A14 east bound.
M1 junction 28 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway
Until winter 2016, there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 28 and 35a to allow for the construction of the Smart Motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures. This week, the following full closures will be in place:
- on Monday 23 November, the M1 junction 28 northbound entry slip road and the M1 junction 31 southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am
- on Tuesday 24 November, the M1 junction 29 northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am
- on Wednesday 25 November, the M1 junction 31 up and over, the M1 junction 30 southbound entry slip road and the M1 junction 29 southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am
- on Thursday 26 November, the M1 southbound to M18 northbound link, the M1 junction 28 northbound entry slip road, the M1 junction 29 northbound exit slip road and the M1 junction 30 northbound exit slip roads will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am
- on Friday 27 November, the M1 junction 34 northbound exit slip road, the M1 junction 28 northbound entry slip road and the M1 Tibshelf Services southbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am
A42 junction 11 to 12, Leicestershire: carriageway repairs
The northbound carriageway and entry slip road will be closed overnight from 8pm on Wednesday 25 November until 5am on Thursday 26 November.
A43 Baynard Green to Barley Mow roundabout, Oxfordshire: survey works
The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight on Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 November between 8pm and 6am each night.
A52 Queens Drive to Silverdale, Nottingham: carriageway repairs
The Queens Drive flyover will be closed overnight from 8pm on Tuesday 24 November until 5am on Wednesday 25 November.
