Planned roadworks in East Midlands: weekly summary for Monday 19 October to Sunday 25 October 2015

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 16 October but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
M1 junction 16 to 19, Northamptonshire: smart motorways preparatory work
There will be various restrictions in place to allow for the smart motorway preparatory work to be undertaken. These include speed restrictions, narrow lanes and hard shoulder running. From Monday 19 October to Friday 22 October the M1 southbound carriageway from junction 18 to 16 will be closed each night from 9pm to 6am. M1 southbound traffic will be diverted onto the A5 Southbound at junction 18. Traffic will follow the A5 to the cross roads with the A45 at Flore. Traffic will turn left at the traffic lights, following the A45 to re-join the M1 southbound at junction 16.
M1 junction 19, Leicestershire: road improvement scheme
From Monday 19 October to Wednesday 21 October the A14 westbound will be closed between junction 2 and Catthorpe junction from 9pm to 6am each night.
A14 to M1 northbound traffic will be diverted on to the A45 at junction 13 and head south to re-join the M1 at junction 15.
The M6 southbound exit slip will be closed to Dumbbells and there will be full closure between the 2 dumbbells islands from 9pm to 6am each night.
M6 to A14 traffic will be diverted off the M6 at junction 1, head north up the A426 to Junction 20 on the M1, then south and off at J19.
On Thursday 22 October the A14 westbound will be closed junction 2 to Catthorpe
A14 to M1 Northbound traffic will be diverted on to the A45 at junction 13 and head south to re-join the M1 at junction 15. The M6 northbound entry slip road from dumbbells to M1 to M6 link northbound will also be closed 9pm to 6am. M6 northbound traffic will be diverted north to junction 20, head down the A426 to M6 junction 1.
On Friday 23 October the M1 to M6 link northbound will be closed from 9pm to 6am
M6 northbound traffic will be diverted north on the M1 to junction 20, turn left and head down the A426 to M6 junction 1.
On Friday the A14 westbound from junction 2 to Catthorpe will also be closed from 9pm to 6am.
A14 to M1 northbound traffic will be diverted on to the A45 at junction 13 and head south to re-join the M1 at junction 15.
M1 junction 28 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway
Until winter 2016, there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 28 and 35a to allow for the construction of the smart motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures. This week, the following full closures will be in place: Monday 12 October – junction 35 southbound exit slip will be closed and junction 35 southbound entry slip closed will be closed 8pm to 6am.
- Tuesday 13 October – junction 33 northbound exit slip will be closed from 8pm to 6am
- Wednesday 14 October – junction 33 northbound entry slip will be closed from 8pm to 6am
- Thursday 15 October – no closures
- Friday 16 October – junction 29 northbound entry slip will be closed and junction 34 northbound exit slip will be closed from 8pm to 6am.
- Saturday 17 October - Sunday 18 October – no closures
A5 Gibbets Hill to Magna Park, Leicestershire/Warwickshire: carriageway repair
On Tuesday 20 October the northbound carriageway will be closed from 8pm to 5am Wednesday morning. Diversions will be signposted.
A43 Towcester to Brackley, Northamptonshire: signing and lining works
From 19 October to 31 October the southbound carriageway will be closed each night from 8pm to 6am. Diversions will be signposted.
A45 Great Billing, Northamptonshire: barrier repairs
From Monday 19 to Saturday 24 October (am) the northbound exit slip road will be closed with a lane one closure also between 8pm and 6am each night.
