The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 13 January but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 28 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway

Until winter 2016, there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 28 and 35a to allow for the construction of the smart motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures.

On Monday 16 January the northbound entry and exit slip at junction 30 and the northbound up and over at junction 33 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

On Tuesday 17 January the northbound entry slip at junction 29 and the southbound entry slip at junction 29a, along with the northbound up and over at junction 34 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

On Wednesday 18 January the northbound up and over at junction 34 and the northbound entry and exit slips at junction 29a will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

On Thursday 19 January the northbound exit and entry slip at junction 29a, the M18 southbound to M1 northbound link road, the northbound up and over at both junction 33 and junction 34, the southbound up and over at junction 24 and the southbound exit slip road at junction 32 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

On Friday 20 January the northbound entry slip at junction 29a, the M18 southbound to M1 northbound link road, the northbound up and over at both junction 33 and junction 34 and the southbound exit slip road at junction 32 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

On Saturday 21 January the northbound up and over at both junction 33 and junction 34 and the southbound up and over at junction 33 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

On Sunday 22 January the southbound entry slip at junction 34 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

M1 junction 19 to 16, Northamptonshire: smart motorway

Lanes 3 and 2 of the northbound carriageway will be closed from junction 18 to junction 16 overnight from 9pm to 6am between Monday 16 January and Friday 20 January.

There will be a full carriageway closure southbound between junctions 19 and 18 from 9pm to 6am between Monday 16 January and Friday 20 January. Lanes 2 and 3 will be closed at junction 20. The entry slip roads at junctions 20 and 19 and exit slip roads at junctions 19 and 18 will also be closed as will the M45 from junction 1 to the M1. Diversion routes will be clearly signposted.
