Planned roadworks in East Midlands: weekly summary for Monday 14 to Sunday 20 March 2016
Summary of planned new and on-going road improvements over the coming week.
The following summary of planned new and on-going road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 11 March but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
M1 junction 28 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway
Until winter 2016, there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 28 and 35a to allow for the construction of the smart motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures.
On Monday 14 March, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- the northbound entry slip road at junction 30
- the southbound entry and exit slip roads at Woodall services
On Tuesday 15 March, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- the northbound entry slip road at junction 30
- the northbound entry and exit slip roads at Woodall services
On Wednesday 16 March, the northbound entry and exit slip road at junction 31 will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am.
On Thursday 17 March, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- the southbound entry and exit slip road at junction 31
- the southbound entry slip road at junction 34
On Friday 18 March, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- the southbound entry and exit slip road at junction 31
- the southbound entry slip road at junction 4
- the southbound entry slip road at junction 1 on the M18
- the southbound exit slip road at junction 3
- the M18 southbound between junction 4 and 3
On Saturday 19 March, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- the southbound entry and exit slip road at Woodall services
- the southbound entry slip road at junction 4
- the southbound exit slip road at junction 3
- the southbound carriageway at junction 4 and 3 on the M18
On Sunday 20 March, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- the northbound entry and exit slip road at junction 30
- the southbound entry slip road at junction 4
- the southbound exit slip road at junction 3
- the southbound carriageway at junction 4 and 3 on the M18
M1 junction 19, Leicestershire: improvement works
The M6 southbound from junction 1 will be closed, as will the M1 southbound from junction 20 and the M1 northbound form junction 18. The roads will be closed on 17 March between 9pm and 6am.
On 17 March the following diversions will be in place:

M6 southbound traffic will exit at junction 1, head north-east onto the A426 and join the M1 at junction 20

M1 southbound traffic will exit at junction 20, travel south-west down the A426, then travel south on the A5 to re-join the M1 at junction 18
The A14 to the M6 link road westbound, and the M1 to M6 northbound link road will be closed on the nights of the 16, 18 and 20 March.
Diversions will be in place for the M6 northbound. Traffic will continue north up the M1 to junction 20, then head south-west on the A426 to join the M6 at junction 1.
A45 between Wilby Way roundabout and Skew Bridge, Northamptonshire
The A45 carriageway will be closed southbound overnight from 14 to 18 March between 8pm and 6am. There will also be one overnight lane closure on the A45 northbound (eastbound) at Wellingborough, junction 14.
A43 Brackley between Buckingham Road roundabout and Northampton Road roundabout, Northamptonshire
The northbound carriageway of the A43 will be closed overnight from 18 to 20 March. It will be closed from 9pm to 6am. A diversion route will be fully signposted.
A43 Brackley Road, Abthorpe roundabout, Northamptonshire
The Brackley Road junction of the A43 Abthorpe roundabout will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am on 16 and 17 March. Diversions will be signposted.
