The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 29 April but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: Smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 4a and 3 including the junction 4 and 4a entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 3 May for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A327 and A30.

The link roads from the M25 anti clockwise to the M3 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 7am, on Friday 6 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 11 and return to the junction 12 clockwise link roads.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 4 and 3 including the junction 4 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 7am, on Saturday 7 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A331 and A30.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 4 including junction 3 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 7am, on Saturday 7 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322 and A30.

M3 junction 9 Winchester, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M3 continues this week. The northbound exit slip road at junction 9 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 3 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 7 (Basingstoke).

M3 junction 11 Winchester, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M3 continues this week. The northbound exit slip road at junction 11 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 4 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 10.

M3 junction 12 Chandlers Ford, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M3 continues this week. The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 5 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 11.

M3 junction 13 Eastleigh, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M3 continues this week. The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 6 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 12. In addition, a lane closure will be in place on the link roads from the M27.

M4 junctions 5 Slough to 7 Maidenhead, Berkshire: drainage and verge survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage and verge surveys as part of the forthcoming Smart Motorway project continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the end of May (Monday to Friday).

M4 junctions 8/9 Maidenhead to 11 Reading Wokingham, Berkshire: drainage and verge survey Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage and verge surveys continues this week. M4 junctions 11 to 12 Reading, Berkshire: street lighting

Work to improve safety by installing LED bulbs takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 4 May for 3 nights.

M4 junction 12 Reading, Berkshire: A4/Ikea resurfacing

Work to resurface the A4 as part of the Ikea development starts this week. Lane closures will be in place on the eastbound exit and entry slip roads overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 3 May for 6 weeks (Monday to Friday only), to accommodate the full closures of the A4.

M27 junction 5 Eastleigh, Hampshire: surfacing

Work to improve safety by applying anti-skid material at the junction takes place this week. The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 3 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 3.

M27 junction 9 Whiteley, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M27 continues this week. The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 3 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 8.

M27 junctions 9 Whiteley to 11 Portsmouth, Hampshire: barrier repair

Work to improve safety by carrying out repairs to the central reserve barrier continues this week. Lane 3 of both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 20 May (Monday to Friday only).

M27 junction 10 Fareham, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M27 continues this week. The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 6 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 9 and the A27.

M271 Southampton, Hampshire: drainage survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage surveys along the M271 starts this week. Lane closures will be in place between the M27 and the A35 Redbridge Roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 3 May for 3 weeks (Monday to Friday only).

A3(M) Bedhampton to Horndean, Hampshire: vegetation clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out vegetation clearance starts place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 6 May.

A27 Farlington, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the carriageway takes place this week. The eastbound carriageway between the A2030 Eastern Road and the A3(M) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Tuesday 3 May for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A2030.

A27 Bedhampton to Warblington, Hampshire: street lighting

Work to maintain safety by installing LED bulbs takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways and on the slip roads at Langstone and Warblington overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 3 May for 4 nights.

A31 Ashley Heath to West Moors, Hampshire: vegetation clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out vegetation clearance takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 3 May for 3 nights.

A34 Kings Worthy, Hampshire: pedestrian facility improvement

Work by Hampshire County Council to improve pedestrian facilities at the B3047 London Road junction starts this week. The Kings Worthy link road between the A34 and B3047 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 3 May for 4 weeks (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Winchester.

A34 Chilton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by constructing new slip roads and improving the layout of the Chilton interchange continues this week. A lane closure will be in place on the northbound exit slip road overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until late spring (Monday to Friday only). Work is due to be completed in summer 2016.

A34 Milton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by improving the layout of the Milton interchange continues this week. Lane closures will be in place overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until early May (Monday to Friday only). Work is due to be completed in spring 2016.

A34 Oxford, Oxfordshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the exit slip road at Hinksey Hill starts this week. The southbound exit slip road at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Friday 6 May for 5 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Abingdon.

A303 Bullington Cross, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing sections of the northern side of the junction start this week. The A303 eastbound exit and entry slip roads at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 4 May for 4 nights (Monday to Friday only). Clearly signed diversion will be in place via Micheldever and Three Maids Hill/Barton Stacey junctions.

In addition, the A34 northbound exit slip road will be closed over the same period, with a clearly signed diversion in place via Whitchurch.

A303 Longparish, Hampshire: drainage

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance takes place this week. A lane closure will be in place on the westbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 5 May for 2 nights.

A303 Parkhouse Cross, Wiltshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the slip roads at the junction takes place this week. The eastbound exit and entry slip roads at the A338 junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 3 May. Clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Thruxton and Amesbury junctions.

A404 Burchetts Green, Berkshire: vegetation clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing overgrown vegetation finishes this week. The northbound entry slip road at the Burchetts Green junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 6 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A404(M) junction 9b roundabout.
