The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 24 March but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 2 and 3 including the M25 clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads to the M3 southbound will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 29 March for 5 nights. Work on Friday and Saturday will take place between 8pm and 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 13, A30 and A322.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 4 and 3 including junction 4 entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 29 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A331 and A30.

The northbound and southbound entry slip roads at junction 4a will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 29 March for 4 nights. Work on Friday will take place between 8pm and 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A30.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 2 including junction 3 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 30 March for 4 nights. Work on Friday and Saturday will take place between 8pm and 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322 and A30 to the M25 junction 13.

M3 junction 11 Winchester, Hampshire: lighting maintenance

Work to improve safety on slip roads along the M3 will take place this week. The southbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Tuesday 29 March for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Spitfire Link.

M4 junction 6 Slough, Berkshire: street lighting

Work to maintain safety by installing new LED lighting bulbs along the M4 near junction 6 will take place this week. One lane on the eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 29 March for 4 nights.

M4 junction 10 to 11 Reading, Berkshire: vegetation management

Work to maintain safety by removing over-matured trees adjacent to the M4 will take place this week. One lane on the westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 29 March for 4 nights.

M4 junction 10 Wokingham to 12 Reading, Berkshire: carriageway surveys

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway surveys along the M4 starts this week. Various lane closures will be in place at various locations overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 29 March until the summer 2016 (Monday to Friday only).

M27 junction 3 to M271 junction 1 Nursling, Hampshire: carriageway repair

Work to improve safety on the M271 will take place this week. The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Tuesday 29 March for 5 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M27 junction 2.

M27 junctions 5 to 4 Eastleigh to Chilworth, Hampshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to maintain safety along the M27 will take place this week. The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Tuesday 29 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M3 junction 12.

A27 Eastern Road to Broadmarsh Portsmouth, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve safety on the A27 will take place this week. The eastbound carriageway between Eastern Road and Broadmarsh will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Tuesday 29 March for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A2030.

A3 Hindhead Tunnel, Surrey: technology testing

Work to maintain safety through the Hindhead Tunnel will take place this week. The southbound tunnel will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Tuesday 29 and Thursday 31 March. The northbound tunnel will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Friday 1 April. Road users will be diverted through the opposite tunnel in a contraflow with a 40mph speed limit.

A3 Liphook to Longmoor, Hampshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve safety along the A3 in Hampshire starts this week. The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Tuesday 29 March for 6 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A31 and A325.

A3 Sheet to Longmoor, Hampshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve safety along the A3 in Hampshire starts this week. The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Tuesday 29 March for 6 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B2070.

A3 Weston, Hampshire: lighting maintenance

Work to improve safety will take place this week. The southbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Friday 1 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A3 Berelands interchange.

A31 Bere Regis to Red Post, Dorset: drainage maintenance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage maintenance along the A31 in Dorset continues this week. The A31 will be closed in both directions overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Tuesday 29 March until mid-April (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place from the Roundhouse roundabout via the A350 and A35. Access will be maintained for residents living within the closure and managed locally on site.

A31 Lake Gates to Roundhouse Roundabout, Dorset: surface repairs

Work to improve safety will take place this week. The east and westbound carriageways will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Tuesday 29 March for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A349 and A350.

A31 West Moors, Dorset: drainage maintenance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage maintenance starts this week. The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Tuesday 29 March for 9 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Ameysford Roundabout.

A34 Highclere Common, Hampshire: electrical repairs

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical repairs will take place this week. The southbound exit and entry slip roads at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 29 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Tot Hill and Speen.

A34 Chieveley, West Berkshire: street lighting

Work to maintain road user safety by installing new LED lights at the Chieveley interchange and service area will take place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the north and southbound approaches to the roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 29 March for 3 nights.

In addition, access to the service area will be unavailable from the northbound link overnight on Wednesday 30 March and from the southbound link overnight on Thursday 31 March. Clearly signed diversions will be in place.

A34 Chilton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by constructing new slip roads and improving the layout of the Chilton interchange continues this week. The northbound exit slip road at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until late spring (Monday to Friday only). Work is due to be completed in summer 2016.

A34 Milton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by improving the layout of the Milton interchange continues this week. Narrow lanes and a temporary speed limit will be in place 24/7. Work is due to be completed in spring 2016.

A34 Hinksey Hill (Oxford), Oxfordshire: electrical repairs

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical repairs will take place this week. The southbound exit and entry slip roads at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 30 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Botley interchange and Abingdon junction.

A34 Wytham, Oxfordshire: bridge joint repair

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking bridge joint replacement near Wytham will be completed this week. The northbound carriageway between the A420 Botley interchange and the A44 Peartree interchange will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Wednesday 29 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Oxford ring-road.

A34 Kidlington, Oxfordshire: bridge joint repair

Work to maintain journeys by replacing bridge joints near Kidlington/Water Eaton will continue this week. The northbound carriageway between the A44 Peartree interchange and Kidlington junction will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Wednesday 29 March for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Kidlington.

A303 Longparish, Hampshire: vegetation management

Work to improve safety by carrying out vegetation clearance to improve site-lines along the A303 will take place this week. One lane on the eastbound carriageway and access into The Avenue (located approximately 1 mile east of Longparish) will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 30 March for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Barton Stacey junction.

A303 Thruxton, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing sections of both carriageways near Thruxton continues this week. The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 8 April (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A338, Ludgershall and A342 Andover Road.

A308(M) Maidenhead, Berkshire: drainage

Work to improve safety by carrying out drainage maintenance will take place this week. One lane will be closed on the southbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 30 March for 3 nights.

A404 Burchetts Green to Marlow, Berkshire: street lighting

Work to improve safety by installing new LED lightings at the Bisham roundabout will take place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the north and southbound carriageways and on the roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 1 April.
